Congratulations to Dr Fiona Donald

Congratulations from everyone in the PROMPT Maternity Foundation team to Dr Fiona Donald, who has been recognised in the King’s New Year Honours List with the award of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her outstanding services to Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine.

Dr Donald is a former Consultant Anaesthetist at North Bristol NHS Trust and one of the founder member of the PROMPT Maternity Foundation, where she has been a passionate advocate for multi-professional team training. Her work has played a key role in improving the safety and outcomes for mothers and babies, with impact demonstrated across the UK and internationally.

Dr Donald has also provided national leadership to the profession as President of the Royal College of Anaesthetists from 2021 to 2024, championing excellence in patient care, education, workforce wellbeing and innovation across anaesthesia, critical care and pain medicine.

We are absolutely delighted to see Dr Donald’s remarkable contribution to healthcare recognised in the New Year Honours. Congratulations, on this richly deserved achievement.
